National move for weekly news editor

LaurenClarkeA weekly news editor has landed a reporting role on a national daily after two and a half years with the paper.

Lauren Clarke, pictured, has left the Coventry Observer and Solihull Observer to join the Daily Star as a news reporter.

Lauren, who is yet to be replaced at the Bullivant Media-owned titles, thanked her former colleagues as she announced her departure on Twitter.

She wrote: “After 2.5 yrs it’s time to leave Coventry & Solihull Observers for pastures new in London. Thanks all, I had a blast.”

Other recent job moves in the regional press and related sectors include the following:

* Aberdeen daily The Press and Journal has appointed Shona Gossip as news editor.  She was previously assistant news editor at the title. Meanwhile Scottish political correspondent Andrew Liddle has left the newspaper to join the press team at Scottish Labour. A replacement has yet to be recruited.

* Ryan O’Donovan has been appointed Fulham FC reporter for the Get West London website.  He was previously sports editor at the Aldershot News & Mail Series and getHampshire.co.uk.

* Graham Turner has been made community editor at the Bury Free Press series, focusing on the communities of Bury St Edmunds. He was previously content editor at the Iliffe-owned title.

* Mark Ritson, previously senior sports and Crystal Palace FC reporter for the Croydon Advertiser, is now digital football writer for publisher Trinity Mirror South East. Robert Warlow will continue to cover Crystal Palace FC news.

* The Daily Record has appointed Nina Glencross as a digital journalist and acting social media manager and Digital Journalist.

* Sam Petherick has been made education and politics reporter at the Bath Chronicle.  He was previously a senior reporter.

* Emma Ray has moved from her role as stort editor at the Hinckley Times to become content editor at the Coventry Telegraph.  She has been replaced in Hinckley by Matt Lloyd.

* Rachel Dinning has been appointed as a reporter at the Gloucestershire County Gazette, covering Yate, Chipping Sodbury, and the surrounding villages.

* The Scotsman has appointed Kevan Christie to the role of health correspondent.

* Nina Swift has moved from the Harrogate Advertiser series where she was content editor to become education correspondent at The Yorkshire Post.
