Former regional daily editor takes up PR directorship

DysonA former regional daily editor has joined a PR company as an associate director.

Steve Dyson, who edited the Birmingham Mail, has been appointed to the part-time role with Warwickshire-based ASAP PR.

Steve launched media training consultancy Dyson Media in 2010 following his departure from the Mail after nearly 20 years in the regional press.

He also serves as contributing editor of national business magazine BQ and writes a regular blog for HTFP, among other ventures.

ASAP PR managing director Andy Skinner said: “We’ve worked hard at ASAP to develop our news-based approach to everything we produce, which is why our copy has become the favourite of business, news and sub-editors alike. I know Steve will be able to help further develop our services.”

Steve added: “I’ve known Andy for many years and have always admired the way he and John Duckers have run ASAP as the leading journalistic provider of quality PR for business and professional clients.

“I’m now delighted to be playing a new role at ASAP. It will make a great fit with my other work at Dyson Media, which I’ll continue to develop as one of the UK’s best providers of media training.

“The two businesses have no overlap in terms of the services they provide, and so each will complement the growing strengths of the other. I can’t wait to get started with ASAP in April.”
