Daily’s deputy business editor pips two colleagues to award

A daily newspaper’s deputy business editor beat off competition from two colleagues to be crowned Regional Finance Journalist of the Year.

The Yorkshire Post’s Greg Wright took the prize at the Headline Money Awards 2017 event in London.

He was shortlisted alongside fellow YP colleagues Conal Gregory and Sharon Dale, with freelancer Jeff Salway and Margaret Taylor, who writes for Glasgow-based titles The Herald and Sunday Herald also on the list.

The awards, known as the ‘Oscars’ of financial reporting, were handed out in a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London, on Tuesday.

Yorkshire Post business editor Mark Casci told HTFP: “Greg is one of the finest journalists I have worked with in my career and this accolade is richly deserved.

“He has won many awards in his career and this is right up there with the best of them.

“My congratulations to him, and to Conal and Sharon as well who made the final shortlist.

“Everyone in the newsroom is really proud of them all.”
