City TV channel marks 1m viewer milestone with launch of new series

A city television channel is celebrating reaching a million viewers per month as it prepares to launch a new music programme hosted by a rock legend.

Made in Birmingham reached 1,027,258 viewers during February, according to the Broadcasters Audience Research Board.

The station, owned by Made Television, is also set to air a brand new show called ‘Streets of Birmingham – Music’, which will be hosted by ELO and Black Sabbath drummer Bev Bevan.

The programme will see the musician take a driving tour around the city, giving a running commentary on the sights, landmarks and unique musical heritage of the area.

Made television chief executive Jamie Conway said: “These are a fantastic set of viewing figures.

“They support our conviction that providing authentic, locally focused programming is the right way to engage and entertain viewers and we’re thrilled to be bringing a new music show, fronted by drumming legend, Bev Bevan to viewers across the region for the first time.”

He added: “We’re really encouraged by the enthusiastic welcome we’ve received in the West Midlands.

“Our interaction and engagement with viewers is vital as it helps us to provide programming that reflects the spirit of the region and to build a TV channel that supports and reflects the issues and passions of the local community.”

‘Streets of Birmingham – Music’ will begin on 26 March at 9pm.
