University plans to offer journalism degree in UK and China

Bolton uniPlans to run a journalism degree in the UK and China are being made by a university.

The University of Bolton says it intends to offer an international multimedia journalism masters course on British soil, in addition to one currently offered at an academic establishment in Beijing with which it is allied.

The university is offering two scholarships to study the course in September.

However, the insititution has also confirmed in hopes to offer the same degree programme in Bolton in future.

A spokesman said: “Bolton has plans to offer The international multimedia journalism masters on two more sites, one in south China and also on the University of Bolton main campus, so watch this space.”

Course leader Sharron Lovell said: “Every year we see graduates enter diverse fields of journalism, filmmaking, editing and storytelling in both the journalism and non-profit sectors.

“It’s wonderful that we can offer two scholarships this year.'”

Dr Dave Clark, who led the course from when it was first established, added: “We are proud of our graduates and the work they go on to create after leaving us.

“Many are already journalists who come to us to take their experience to the next level, going on with the skills to work internationally and innovatively across platforms.”
