Regional publisher’s TV channel launches new news programme

A TV station owned by a regional newspaper publisher has launched a new news programme.

Archant’s Norwich-based channel Mustard TV has begun broadcasting Norwich@Nine, described as “the ultimate catch-up on everything that matters in Norfolk”.

The 30-minute show, hosted by Rob Setchell and Neil Perry, features news, sport, weather and business segments.

Rob has been unveiled as the channel’s head of content in the past few days.

He said: “We’ve been serving Norwich for more than two years now – reporting the stories closest to home.

“In that time, we’ve highlighted the efforts of inspirational people and charities, revealed some of our county’s most emotive human stories and shone a spotlight on
the key decisions being made which
affect the future of our city.

“The common theme throughout all our programming has been that it’s rooted here in Norfolk – with truly local news from the places you live and work.

“We think nine o’clock is the perfect time for people to flick over and see what’s happening in the place that matters most to them.”

Mustard TV’s other two main news bulletins currently air at 6pm and 7pm.

flogging that dead and tired horse that is mustardTV. How much longer is this madness going to continue. Then again whats hundreds of thousands of losses (that hit the bottom line) now to Archant, that finanly turned around a small profit at the expense of quality content.

As if losing over £650,000+ already isn`t enough of a sign to pull the plug they still persist with a vanity project local tv station that hardly anyones watching then they launch another limited appeal programme at the prime tv viewing time of 9pm?

or are they watching? Who knows?
Maybe the new commercial sales manager and content chief can supply the staff with the figures everyones been asking for since it started but which were presumably so bad they keep them under lock and key

Despite all the well documented problems and chaos around this farcical tv channel you’d think they might have thought twice about launching a new programme at prime time for national tv and thus putting themselves up against national programmes, this for a station that has hardly any viewers as it is.
On the back of the new Norwich evening paper editor asking his few readers what he should do and the content manager asking for advice on HTFP then not liking what he heard it really looks like no one knows what to do next or which way to turn.

rudderless ship without a captain at the helm and heading for the rocks in double quick time anyone?

This might work. Who wants to watch Night Manager or Peaky Blinders when there’s the chance of changing channel to watch a straw stack slowly smouldering somewhere in Norfolk.
