Journalist makes winning appearance on Bargain Hunt

A regional daily journalist has made a winning appearance on TV’s Bargain Hunt.

Rosemary Lowne, a reporter at the Greenock Telegraph, appeared on the BBC programme with her mother Mary, haggling for items at a fair in Edinburgh.

Rosemary, 31, and Mary auditioned for the show earlier this year “for a laugh” and producers were suitably impressed.

After snapping up their bargains, the pair were filmed as their wares were put under the hammer at Great Western Auctions in Glasgow.

Describing their route to the programme, Rosemary said: “I had just finished work for the day when I got a message from my mum telling me to expect a call from the BBC.

“I was totally confused so I phoned my her back and she told me she’d applied for us to go on Bargain Hunt.

“I burst out laughing; I thought she was having me on until one of the researchers rang me for a phone interview.”

Their appearance as the show’s ‘blue team’ earned the duo a blue fleece each.

Rosemary told HTFP: “I absolutely loved my time on the show and it was a bonus to win. The blue fleece is something I’ll cherish forever.”
