Regional daily business editor quits to found own firm

Bernard Ginns 1The business editor of a regional daily is set to leave the newspaper to found his own communications business.

Bernard Ginns, of the Yorkshire Post, will depart in April to launch Branksome Partners, a communications advisory firm.

Bernard, pictured left, has led the YP’s business team for the last eight years and was editor at the award-winning startup Kent on Sunday before that.

He began his journalism career at the London Newspaper Group after graduating from the University of Manchester and also worked as a general news reporter at The Mail on Sunday.

Said Bernard: “It has been an honour and a privilege to serve as business rditor of The Yorkshire Post over the last eight years. I am sad to be leaving friends and colleagues at the YP and YEP and wish them well for the future.

“My new company, Branksome Partners, will specialise in communications advisory work with individuals, companies and organisations and starts trading in April.

“I joined The Yorkshire Post in 2008 and have been closely involved in business development at the title, creating new revenue streams through initiatives like the Excellence in Business Awards, the Yorkshire Vision magazine and the Business Club, as well as expanding our coverage in print and online.

“I am very proud of our business journalism and believe that The Yorkshire Post plays a vital role in championing northern businesses in the UK.”

Good Luck to Bernard in his new career, which I trust he will find very rewarding.
He’s got out in the nick of time.
He done well in trying to maintain standards on the Yorkshire Post business desk.
