Newspaper publisher announces two new regional MDs

Hussain BayoomiA senior commercial executive with Trinity Mirror is joining rival publisher Newsquest in a newly-created regional managing director role.

Hussain Bayoomi, left, is to join Newsquest as managing director, Wales after four years as commercial director of Bristol News and Media, publisher of the Bristol Post.

Formerly part of Local World, BN&M transferred to Trinity Mirror following its £220m takeover deal last November.

Hussain, who held the role of regional commercial director in Bristol, will join Newsquest on 11 July.

Meanwhile the current MD of Wales and Gloucestershire, Julia Lancett, is to become MD of Newsquest South Midlands, while retaining Gloucestershire as part of her portfolio.

Julia LancettJulia, pictured right, succeeds Trevor Sallis, who is retiring after 35 years in the regional press industry, 17 of them with Newsquest.

Newsquest chief executive Henry Faure Walker said: “I’m delighted to welcome Hussain to Newsquest and to announce Julia’s promotion, and look forward to them building further on their already impressive track records in regional publishing.

“I am extremely grateful to Trevor for the great contribution he has made to this business over many years, and we wish him well in his retirement.”
