Defunct title’s name revived in new business magazine

A new free monthly business magazine has been launched by a regional daily in a nod to its defunct sister newspaper.

The Liverpool Echo has announced the launch of Business Post, which will offer news and in-depth analysis on the business scene across Merseyside.

The name of the publication represents a nod to the former Liverpool Daily Post brand, which closed in 2013.

As a result of the closure, the Post’s business coverage was incorporated into the Echo.

Echo editor Alastair Machray said: “The Liverpool Daily Post is still held in affection and missed by the city region’s business community.

“We are delighted to have produced something which can meet the needs of business and of ourselves.”

The 40-page first edition previews plans for a major, upcoming trade visit to China, organised by Liverpool Vision, and features Liverpool Mayor Joe Anderson and Wirral Council leader Phil Davies on the front cover underneath the city’s Chinese Arch.

There will also be regular, thought-provoking articles on small and medium-sized businesses, the digital and creative sector and commercial property.

Alistair Houghton, editor and Liverpool Echo city editor, said: “Liverpool City Region is one that is moving forward and moving fast.

“There are many successes to shout about – and many more to look forward to. Business Post aims to do that.

“Through targeted distribution, Business Post will be delivered free to chief executive officers and key decision makers across the city region. All in the belief that effective communication will drive achievement.

“Our aim is for Business Post to be a touchstone for people who drive commerce forward on Merseyside.”
