Regional publisher to switch Fleet Street roles to Scotland

DC ThomsonThe last three newspaper journalists to be based on Fleet Street are set to leave in a regional publisher’s restructure.

Dundee-based company DC Thomson has confirmed it is in consultation with editorial staff working in London, as it prepares to boost its Scottish operations ahead of the introduction of a new edition structure.

As part of the changes, three new roles – in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness – are being created, meaning there will be no overall net job losses as a result.

The new positions – for an investigations co-ordinator and two news and features reporters – are now being advertised on HoldtheFrontPage.

DC Thomson is the last newspaper publisher to have an office on Fleet Street, which the company says will remain open after the changes are completed.

A spokesperson said: “DC Thomson has entered into consultation with three Sunday Post Editorial staff members.

“No staff members within other DC Thomson newspaper editorial teams are affected and we will not be closing our Fleet Street office.

“These roles will be relocated to strengthen the Sunday Post’s coverage in Scotland by introducing a new edition structure.”
