A total of 23 complaints against regional publishers were upheld by the press watchdog last year.
The Independent Press Standards Organisation has published its annual report which reveals the number of complaints upheld, resolved and not upheld over the course of 2015.
Six of the 23 upheld complaints were against Trinity Mirror’s regional titles, whose figures also include the former Local World newspapers it took on last year.
A further six complaints were upheld against Newsquest, while five were upheld against Johnston Press.
DC Thomson, Independent News & Media and the KM Group each had two complaints apiece upheld against them.
However, of the 130 complaints made against all regional groups, 91 were not upheld.
