With picnic season soon upon us, readers of the Leigh Journal will have been relieved to read the above headline about a police and council crackdown on pesky insects in the town of Atherton.

Sadly, it would appear six-legged pests will remain at large over the summer as the following article on page four of yesterday’s edition actually reported on a cut in anti-social behaviour by humans in the area instead.
