Friday Funnies: Should weekly ‘own’ up to front page headline error?

Flintshire funny

The tragic death of the Duke of Westminster saw tributes paid by local newspapers on whose patches he owned land earlier this month.

Unfortunately, the Flintshire Chronicle’s front page on the Duke’s passing missed out a fairly crucial letter from its headline, as spotted by reader Robert Lewis on Twitter.

Another week, another front page, another cock-up with the splash headline. The result of way too many cuts in staff who would check this sort of thing before it goes to press? Perhaps. But for the second week in a row, I find this ‘Friday funny’ less than amusing.

who needs a good old fashioned revise editor/sub any more? the irony is, of course, that the headline would have been the perfect fit if they’d got it right!!
