Editor set to brave hot coals in charity ‘firewalk’

A weekly newspaper editor is set to walk over hot coals for charity.

Matt Adams, who edits the Herts Advertiser, will complete the ‘firewalk’ in aid of Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, which is based in Northwood, Middlesex.

Matt will walk barefoot over 15ft of hot coals to support patients at Mount Vernon, which serves the main cancer treatment centre for people on the Advertiser’s St Albans district patch.

The walk will be held at the Club Batchwood nightclub, in St Albans, tomorrow.

Said Matt: “Whether it’s jumping out of a plane, running the Herts 10k or completing a military-style assault course, I’ve always been happy to do my bit to support our local charities and raise awareness of their work.

“This is definitely going to be something different from what I’ve done in the past, but I’m always up for a challenge.”

Matt will undertake the challenge with other volunteers.

Peter Bell, from Club Batchwood, said: “It’s a great opportunity for us to stage an event like this and help raise some money for such a great cause as Mount Vernon. I can’t wait to see who comes and braves this.”
