Asian Media Awards in call for regional press entries

AMA 2016Organisers of the Asian Media Awards have announced a renewed sponsorship deal with the University of Salford as nominations open for this year’s prizes.

The awards, now in their fourth year, aim to celebrate journalism serving the UK’s Asian communities and feature a Regional Journalist of the Year category.

Other awards up for grabs include Best Investigation, Outstanding Young Journalist and Publication of the Year.

Nominations are being welcomed, and the closing date for entries is 5pm on 25 August.

Professor Allan Walker, dean of the School of Arts and Media at the University of Salford, said: “We are absolutely delighted to continue our long-standing support of the Asian Media Awards as premier sponsor for another year.

“The awards highlight just how many talented people are working in the media from Britain’s Asian communities and we want that number to grow.

“We also want to continue to be at the heart of helping ensure that the media fully represents the diversity, talent and creativity of the UK population in the 21 century.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 27 October at the Hilton Manchester Deansgate with the official shortlist announcement being held on Monday 19 September.
