Sturgeon pays visit to weekly newspaper office

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon met journalists from a weekly newspaper on a visit to their office.

She met staff at the the Oban Times as part of a visit to the area on Monday and gave an interview to journalists.

During her time at the independent title, the first minister viewed the issue of the newspaper printed on the Thursday after her birth in 1970 and was interviewed by chief reporter Louise Glen and senior reporter Emma Crichton.

Ms Sturgeon shook hands with all the newspaper’s staff, before being introduced to managing director Alister Bennett and editor Willie Mack.

She then took a tour of the weekly’s offices in Oban’s Lochavullin estate.

Alister said: “We are delighted that the First Minister decided to take time out of her busy schedule to visit the Oban Times.

“It was a real thrill for the staff, as she was keen to talk to everyone in the office and hear their news.”

Ms Sturgeon was in Oban to chair a parliamentary meeting and in the evening to take part in a question-and-answer session.
