Press Association powers new Facebook election page

The Press Association has joined forces with Facebook for a new election page which will curate politics content from social media.

Facebook’s UK Politics community page will be powered by PA’s politics and social team, who will select the best election stories and updates from across the web.

The site, which was launched on 30 March, will include multimedia content from various publishers, parties and leaders, as well as posts from Facebook users.

It will also include updates from PA’s election wire and SNAP.PA, the agency’s new digital service that will provide an alternative view of the election.

Pete Clifton, PA’s editor-in-chief, said: “We are delighted to be overseeing Facebook’s UK Politics page, ensuring it is a compelling mix of the most exciting and informative content in the run up to the 2015 General Election.

“PA will be at the heart of reporting the UK elections with its dedicated team of political journalists, and Facebook provides another fantastic platform to showcase that expertise.”

Nick Wrenn, Facebook’s Head of Media Partnerships for the EMEA region, said: “PA is an ideal news organisation to run the Facebook UK Politics page because of its commitment to impartiality and balance, and its ability to curate quality content from a wide range of journalists, analysts and public figures.

“Millions rely on Facebook every day as a source for news, shareable and entertaining content. This page will be a place for people to like, comment and share all the latest updates from the UK election.”
