Peston to speak at fundraising lunch for Journalists’ Charity

Robert Peston

BBC economics editor Robert Peston will be the guest speaker at a fundraising lunch for the Journalists’ Charity.

The event, organised by the West Midlands branch of the charity, will see Robert talk about his career and answer questions.

The lunch takes place at Warwickshire County Cricket Club in Edgbaston on 16 October in aid of the Journalists’ Charity, which runs a care home and sheltered housing for retired journalists and provides emergency grants.

The Dorking Advertiser reported last week that the charity, whose care home is in its patch, was in financial difficulties.

Derek Inman, chairman of the West Midlands branch of the charity said: “We are delighted to have Robert join us.

“His understanding and analysis of the business world is second to none and I would advise people to book their tickets now for what will be a very popular event.”

Robert has won numerous awards for his journalism and before joining the BBC, he worked as political editor and financial editor of the Financial Times, city editor of the Sunday Telegraph and as a columnist for the New Statesman and Sunday Times.

Tickets for the event, which includes a three-course meal, cost £48 or £450 for a table of 10, and are available here.
