Docklands newspaper launches new-look website

A revamped website has been launched to accompany a weekly freesheet aimed at workers in the Canary Wharf and Docklands area of London.

The Wharf, which is owned by Trinity Mirror, has relaunched the site using the Escenic platform found on websites across the company’s newspapers.

It is hoped the new platform, pictured below, will allow a wider range of content to be uploaded – including more What’s On, more frequent updates and better engagement through social media.

The launch came in the same week as The Wharf produced a 96-page edition, its largest pagination since before the credit crunch of 2008.

Editor Giles Broadbent said: “You only have to look at the tens of thousands of people milling around Canary Wharf every day to see that smart phones are their window on the world.

“Our mobile-friendly website gives us the opportunity to deliver news and information to our readers in the format they want and at the time they want.

“In just a couple of days we have already seen sizeable increases in the number of page views.

“Billions of pounds are being invested in the new East End, from the Olympic Park to the Royal Docks, from Tech City to Wood Wharf and our ambition is to be the one-stop resource for this uniquely dynamic region.”
