Award-winning websites branches out into weddings

An award-winning local entertainments website is branching out into wedding planning.

Gloucestershire-based SoGlos.com hopes to combine “the inspiration of a glossy bridal magazine with an indispensably informative wedding website” in the new venture, named SoGlosWeddings.

Following the same publishing model as SoGlos, the new title will be updated daily by a small team of in-house journalists producing original editorial news, listings, guides, and features for its website, a monthly email newsletter and social media.

The new online magazine is the result of a two-year long project and will be self-funded through advertising revenue, with a number of native advertising opportunities offered alongside more conventional directory-style and display advertising services.

Editor Michelle Fyrne said: “There’s never been a better time for a digital-only wedding platform in the regions, with more than 91pc of brides doing their wedding planning online.

“Content remains king and our specialist titles are designed specifically for their audience.

“We’re often asked about whether we plan to expand the SoGlos model into other counties or cities, but getting SoGlosWeddings off the ground has been our focus for the past two years.

“Now, with two market-leading digital publishing titles fully developed, we’re certainly going to be exploring moving further afield.”

SoGlos was launched in 2007 and reaches more than 90,000 readers a month.
