Former regional press journalist lands women’s magazine role

Claudia TannerA former regional press journalist has been appointed deputy editor of  the biggest-selling women’s subscription magazine in the UK.

Claudia Tanner, left, will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Wirral-based Candis magazine, as well as commissioning and editing the health pages and celebrity interviews.

Previously a freelance journalist writing for national newspapers and magazines, her past roles include senior reporter on the Hull Daily Mail, commercial features writer/sub-editor at Newsquest North West, and content editor of Wirral Lifestyle magazine.

She has also worked as fundraising manager at Liverpool Unites, the Liverpool Echo’s in-house children’s charity.

Said Claudia: “I’m delighted to be appointed deputy editor of Candis. It’s a fantastic magazine with a very loyal readership and I’m really looking forward to keeping up its high standards.”

Editorial director Debbie Attewell added: “I am delighted to welcome Claudia and her experience to the team and look forward to strengthening the Candis offering to all our readers.”

  • Sophie Flowers has been appointed as head of content across the Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen series. She was previously news editor at The Pharma Letter.
  • Steven Smith has left his role as chief reporter at the Bournemouth Echo.
  • Victoria Oliphant has left her role as reporter at the Harrow Times.
  • South West News Service has appointed Mathew Di Salvo as news reporter. Mathew was previously a news reporter for Bristol News & Media.
