Nominations are now open for the fifth annual Online Media Awards.

Awards on offer include best site for news-led journalism, best local/regional news site, best specialist site for journalism, best use of social media, online editor of the year and digital writer of the year.

Last year six regional newsapaper websites were among the 12 nominations for the best local/regional news site category.

However they lost out to BBC Online’s East Midlands portal with the corresponding BBC East site winning a commendation.

The awards, hosted by Glasgow-based media website The Drum, are open to media owners, journalists, online publishers and editors.

The closing date for entries is Friday 13 March, and full details can be found here. The ceremony itself will be held in June.
