The EDF Energy South West of England Media Awards 2015 shortlist has been announced today.

Local World titles dominate the list with the Bristol Post, Plymouth Herald and Western Morning News all nominated for Daily Newspaper of the Year, while the Bath Chronicle, The West Briton and Western Gazette vie for Weekly Paid For Newspaper of the Year.

The awards, held in association with HoldtheFrontPage and sponsored by EDF Energy, honour the best in journalism across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

This year there were more than 250 entries across the 20 categories.

The Midweek Herald in Devon, North Devon Gazette and North Somerset Times have been shortlisted for Weekly Free Newspaper of the Year, while www.bristol247.com, www.bristolpost.co.uk, www.flicwiltshire.com, www.totalswindonsport.com and www.soglos.com compete for Website of the Year.

Nominated for the Community Campaign accolade are Bath Chronicle (Harmonie-Rose), The Cornishman (Heart Start), Mid Somerset News and Media (10×10 Hospice Care), Plymouth Herald (I Love Life) and Plymouth Herald (Safer Spaces).

The awards ceremony will be held at Somerset County Cricket Club, in Taunton, on Thursday July 16.

Ian Axton, ITV News West Country Presenter and Francesca Price, former BBC journalist and communications consultant, will be hosting the awards.
