Training body launches study on industry changes

A research project on changes in journalism and the implications for working practices has been launched.

The National Council for the Training of Journalists will use its “emerging skills for journalists”  study to provide up-to-date labour market information for the industry.

Issues under the spotlight include: developments in the business models of publishing and broadcasting, the impact of Leveson, employers’ use of journalists and journalists’ skills, and the impact of IT and digitisation on journalistic skills.

A spokesman said the project would “also aim to determine whether changes identified will continue to develop and therefore continue to have an impact.”
