New role for journalism course director

A journalism course director has been named as the new deputy chair of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

Diane Kemp, who currently leads the journalism courses at Birmingham City University, takes up the appointment immediately.

The appointment is part of a major restructure of the accreditation body which oversees 67 undergraduate and postgraduate broadcast and online journalism courses.

It follows the appointment of former Classic FM Chief Executive, Ralph Bernard CBE as chairman of the BJTC and former ITN executive Jon Godel as director.

Said Diane: “I’m delighted to be taking on the role as deputy chair of the Broadcast Journalism Training Council.

“The work it carries out in setting standards for training in the UK as well as providing a forum for discussion between employers and academics in the field is hugely important. To be able to assist in that work and all its future aims is a privilege.”
