Journalism course voted capital’s best in student survey

The journalism course at London’s Brunel University has been voted the best in the capital in a student survey.

The BA (Hons) Journalism course has been rated the best in London for student satisfaction in this year’s National Student Survey league table.

It rose 37 places to stand at 7th place in the survey, with results showing that 88pc of students were satisfied overall with their university experience.

Paul Lashmar, Brunel Journalism’s programme leader, said: “This is an extraordinary rise and we’re delighted with the result.

“Our degree course is quite new so this is a real bonus as we have scored way above universities with courses that have been in existence for 20 or 30 years,” he added.

Brunel’s course includes training in news writing, shorthand, public affairs and law, while students also learn how to edit and package their articles for a range of journalism formats, with an emphasis on cross-media platform and hand-held technology.
