World Cup window display scores hit with sales team

A newsagent has won an industry competition for the best World Cup window display.

The sales team from Johnston Press’s North East Press division was asked to choose the winner of the contest staged by the National Federation of Retail Newsagents’ Sunderland and South Shields branch.

The prize went to Christopher Trewhitt, owner of Newsmarket in Hartlepool for his display, pictured below.

Some point of sale material was supplied by North East Press, publishers of the Echo, the Shields Gazette and the Hartlepool Mail, but local newsagents were also encouraged to use their own imagination to dress their windows.

The competition was run to help retailers increase sales of World Cup merchandise in their stores as well as giving them an opportunity to win £100.

As Mr Trewhitt is an NFRN member the organisation doubled the prize money to £200.
