Trainee tweets rapper in champagne bid

A trainee reporter promised a bottle of champagne by his editor if he successfully snares an interview with a famous rapper has taken to Twitter to further his cause.

Louis Emanuel, of the Bristol Post, wrote to hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg on the website making the request ahead of his tour date in Bristol next month.

Louis, 29, has offered to share his winnings with the American star if he agrees to the interview, and has called on readers to retweet his request to raise awareness of his proposal.

The bet came about after Louis, pictured below, asked Post features editor Steve Mellen if he could review the concert.

Louis, who has spent almost two years as a trainee at the Local World title and previously freelanced there, said: “My editor jokingly said to me ‘if you get an interview with him I’ll pay for your weekly shopping’.

“Once the review tickets were confirmed he changed his mind to a bottle of champagne instead.

“I thought to myself I do actually want to interview him and he probably likes champagne too. So I tweeted him my proposal. I’ve got my fingers crossed.

“I would also appreciate if anyone could help me by retweeting my proposal.”

The tweet to Snoop Dogg reads as follows:

Why is this even news on HTFP? Reporter uses internet should no longer make the headlines. It’s not even a man bites (snoop) dog story.

This is a non-story, but it gets out the message that Local World love the Internet. If Mr Emanuel gets the interview, he can expect an editorship before too long. Or is he too old?
