Reporter faces up to charity wax pain

Graham charityA reporter faced up to pain as he had his moustache waxed off for charity – as his boss joked it was “standard induction policy.”

Kent Online journalist Graham Stothard undertook the procedure to mark the end of the Movember campaign, which sees participants across the country grow facial hair in aid of men’s health charities.

Graham’s waxing was filmed for the viewing pleasure of those reading the KM Group-owned website.

Group editorial director Ian Carter later jokingly tweeted that the procedure was “standard KM induction policy”.

Graham, pictured left prior to the waxing, said: “My colleagues were somewhat surprised.

“I suggested it primarily as a half joke, but when the online editor heard about it it was put on the story prospects and from there it was set in stone.

“I must admit when some of the women in the office told me how hard it would be I tried to wiggle out of it, but there was no way they were letting me off the hook.

He added: “It’s a very worthy charity and as someone who is deeply concerned at the level of cuts in mental health services I feel charities that support such causes make up for the shortfall in a short term capacity.”
