A new head of events is set to join regional publisher DC Thomson after working for Newsquest for nearly 14 years.

Alison Martin will lead DC Thomson’s events team when she joins the company later this month, including managing the Press and Journal Energy Ball and the Courier Business Awards.

She worked for Newsquest’s Herald and Times Group as its head of events for nearly 14 years but is understood to have left the position at the end of December.

Her new role with DC Thomson will also see her developing new commercial events for the regional publisher with the aim of growing the division.

While working for Newsquest, Alison led a team which organised around 25 events each year, including a number of awards ceremonies held by The Herald and Glasgow Evening Times.

It is understood that Newsquest is now recruiting for her successor.
