Regional publisher bids for hat-trick of print awards

A regional publisher’s print arm is in the running for its third industry award in 2014.

Archant Print has already picked up the laurels as Niche Market Newspaper Printer of the Year and an RoSPA ‘Gold Award’ for the work in reducing accidents at its Norwich headquarters.

Now its bidding for the hat-trick after being shortlisted for the title of Newspaper of the Year in the prestigious Print Week awards, held on 20 October at Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The Thorpe Centre print division is up against last year’s winners – Trinity Mirror Printing (Watford) – plus Trinity Mirror Printing (Teesside) and the independent Newbury Weekly News.

Last year the Archant Print division was named as runner-up in the awards for its contract printing of Bauer Media weekly trade titles, MCN (MotorCycleNews), Angling Times and Classic Car Weekly.

Print director Clive Want, pictured, said: “Although being highly commended last year was a great achievement for everyone at Thorpe, coming second is just not quite the same. It would be a fantastic achievement if Archant Print were to win this award. It would be the icing on the cake for them.”
