Regional publisher appoints new digital chief

Regional publisher Newsquest has appointed to a new digital platforms director to develop its online operations.

Simon Hill joins the company from the role of digital technology director at Haymarket Media Group.  His official start date has yet to be confirmed.

His role at Newsquest will involve developing digital products for the publisher, whose portfolio includes 17 local daily and more than 200 weeklies.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include the following:

  • Surrey Herald & Staines News Series news editor Amy Taylor has left her position. She will be replaced by Oliver Florence.
  • Rebecca Shepherd has joined the Woking Advertiser as a reporter
  • The Croydon Advertiser has appointed Tom Matthews and Polly Albany-Ward as reporters following the departures of Georgie Keate and Rachel Millard.
  • Buchan Observer reporter Joshua King is leaving his position to take up a role with the Press and Journal, Aberdeen.
  • Luke Gardener has joined the Biggleswade Chronicle as a reporter.
  • Salisbury Journal head of news Morwenna Blake has left her role.
