Regional daily reshuffles newsroom team

The Edinburgh Evening News has carried out a reshuffle of its editorial team with a series of reporting appointments.

Lizzy Buchan, who has joined the paper from the Cambridge News, takes on the role of city centre reporter, while John-Paul Holden, previously education reporter, becomes local government reporter.

Kaye Nicolson amd Paris Gourtsoyannis, both previously general reporters at the title, become crime reporter and transport and planning reporter respectively.

Kate Pickles is made health reporter while John Connell, Nash Riggins and Alistair Grant have been appointed general reporters.

Meanwhile reporter Katie Richardson has left her position at the Evening News and will join The Northern Echo as a senior reporter on Monday.

Other recent job moves in the regional press include:

  • Mark Williams has been appointed crime reporter for the Hull Daily Mail. Mark succeeds Jenna Thompson who is now deputy content editor at the Local World title.
  • Matthew Gooding has moved from the Royston Crow to join the Cambridge News as business correspondent, while Adam Care takes on the role of universities correspondent.   Adam joins the paper from the Wiltshire Times, where his Melksham and Corsham patch will now be covered by Amber Hicks.
  • Sale & Altrincham and Stretford & Urmston Messenger acting chief reporter Kate Banks is leaving the paper after two years to become a communications executive for Well Dunn Insurance Services.
  • Jane Hamilton is joining the Daily Record as a reporter, following seven years of freelancing.  Jane is a former crime correspondent for the Edinburgh Evening News.
  • Peter Ranscombe is leaving the magazine Scottish Field to go freelance.   Peter spent nine years as a busines correspondent at The Scotsman.
