Regional daily appoints new political editor

A leading regional daily has a new man at Westminster after its previous political editor was poached by the Daily Mirror.

Jack Blanchard left the Yorkshire Post earlier this year after landing a role on the Mirror’s political team.

He has now been replaced at the YP by Adrian Pearson, who joins from The Journal, Newcastle.

Adrian, 32, has filled covered politics on the North-East daily since 2007, most recently as its regional affairs correspondent.

Said Adrian: “I’m delighted to be joining The Yorkshire Post, one of the most well-respected regional newspapers in the country.

“The political editor job is one any reporter would be proud to have, and being able to add to the paper’s already impressive political coverage is a great opportunity.”

Paul Jeeves, head of news at The Yorkshire Post, added: “It’s great to have Adrian on board, and I’m certain he will prove to be a real asset to the paper.”
