PR agency expands again as journalist joins team

A South Coast communications agency is continuing its expansion after recruiting another journalist as an account director.

Former Oxford Mail news and feature writer Debbie Granville has become the latest addition to the team at Bournemouth-based Deep South Media.

Debbie has spent the last 19 years in journalism and PR roles and is the wife of the Bournemouth Echo editor Toby Granville.

Her appointment brings the number of professional journalists working in the firm’s PR division to seven.

Said Debbie: “I am excited to be joining Deep South Media and its team of former journalists.

“The company is thriving and has a great reputation. I am looking forward to adding to its continuing success.”

Joint managing director Andrew Diprose said: “Debbie is a great catch for Deep South Media.

“We think she’ll be a hit with both existing and future clients thanks to her blend of writing, people and communication skills.”

In her previous roles Debbie has been involved in promoting England both domestically and internationally as a press officer for the English Tourist Board.

Her role with DSM will include providing press office, communications and PR support for existing clients across Dorset, Hampshire and the South West as well as developing new clients in the leisure and tourism industry.

DSM was founded by former Bournemouth Echo editor Gareth Weekes in 1998 and its PR arm was launched in 2005.

The company specialises in multi-media content, reputation management, design, stakeholder engagement and press office activities.

It’s the way forward! At least some employers value our creativity and writing skills.

    Reputation management … stakeholder engagement?
There’s clearly a need for a proper journalist here.
