Newspaper production awards in 2015 rebrand

A set of awards dedicated to excellence in newspaper production alongside commercial achievement has been rebranded for the digital age.

The Newspaper Awards, which were first set up 18 years ago, will henceforth be known as the newsawards.

In addition the event has moved to a new central London location opposite Hyde Park, The Lancaster London.

Entries will open from next month with the prizes to be handed out at a gala dinner on wednesday 29 April.

Organisers say the awards categories for 2015 will reflect three key areas of news media publishing – print, digital abd business.

They will remain focused on the look and commercial qualities of newspapers, both in print and online, rather than on editorial.

Awards director Gary Cullum said:  “We’ve had 18 great years with The Newspaper Awards but we really felt that, reflecting the significant changes that the industry is undergoing, we needed to completely refresh our event.

“The printed newspaper remains absolutely key to the industry, continuing to generate a huge percentage of revenue. However the growing importance of digital developments is massive and needed to have its own particular section in the Awards.

“Similarly, we believe we are now the only event that is also focusing on how newspaper publishers are introducing highly innovative business solutions to succeed in a fast changing market.

“With budgets continuing to tighten, we’ve listened to our sponsors and guests who wanted a fantastic Awards night at more affordable costs. We’ve achieved this by moving to The Lancaster. It’s a great venue that offers all the qualities of a Park Lane hotel without the sometimes exorbitant costs.”

The full list of categories for newsawards 2015 will be announced in the November issues of PJ and on the newsawards 2015 website – www.newsawards.co.uk
