New digital director appointed at Local World

Steve Anglesey

A former football humour columnist and website editor has been appointed to a director’s role at Local World.

Steve Anglesey takes on the position of digital content director, which will see him oversee the company’s “accelerated programme of digital transformation”.

Steve, pictured above, previously served as Trinity Mirror’s head of digital business development, promoting the company’s video strategy.

As publisher of MirrorOnline he helped double monthly audience to 42m unique users in a year and created a programme of rapid digital editorial expansion.

He was one of the co-founders of the MirrorFootball website and social feeds, and a wrote weekly football humour column for the Daily Mirror which ran for 13 years.

Previously he was editor of the Football365 website.

Said Steve: “I am delighted to be joining Local World, a company with tremendous assets in terms of people and titles, at such an exciting time.

“We are looking forward to producing and working with content which users will love to watch, read and share.”

Local World digital director Matt Kelly, to whom Steve will report, added: “Steve is a massive talent with vast experience at the very highest levels of digital publishing.

“He will play a key role in our accelerated programme of digital transformation within the group.”
