How regional dailies covered the referendum result

Following hard on the heels of some striking referendum day splashes, the independence no vote saw more eye-catching front pages from the UK’s regional newspapers.

Although most UK dailies chose to splash on local stories, a handful cleared the front for the big referendum verdict.

In addition, as reported elsewhere on HTFP, The Journal, Newcastle and its traditional rival the Northern Echo joined forces to publish identical front pages calling for more powers for their region.

Here’s our round-up of how regional newspapers reported the decision.

“How regional dailies covered the referendum result” – not quite sure that the Southern Daily Echo belongs here, as the page makes clear it has no information. Given that, it makes it an odd front-page altogether.

The Herald’s picture has shades of the one of Mrs Thatcher leaving No 10 for the last time

MEN, publishes the result with 2 pages of stories.

Southern Daily Echo, doesn’t publish the result due to their 10pm deadline. With 5 pages dedicated to the unknown, what a joke!!!!
