County lifestyle magazine honours unsung heroes

A South Wales-based glossy lifestyle magazine has set up a new awards scheme to reward the unsung heroes from its area.

Monmouthshire County Life, owned by regional publisher Newsquest, celebrated its 10th year of publication recently.

To mark the milestone, editor Jo Barnes came up with the idea of rewarding some of the county’s unsung heroes.

It asked the people of Monmouthshire to nominate possible recipients and then a panel of judges, including members of the MCL team, whittled the list down to the final 10.

Said Jo: “We’ve now been publishing for 10 years and we wanted to do something to say thankyou to the people of Monmouthshire who have supported us throughout that time.”

The awards – to be known as the Mons – were handed out in a ceremony at St Pierre, a Marriott golf and country club near Chepstow.
