Award-winning former editor launches PR company

An award-winning former journalist who edited four weekly titles during a 28-year career in newspapers has launched a new PR and publishing company.

Nic Outterside, left, edited the Argyll Advertiser, Galloway Gazette, Buchan Observer and finally the Denbighshire Free Press before leaving the paper last November.

Now based in Shropshire, Nic has launched a new business called writeahead with the aim of providing media and marketing services for small and medium-sized companies.

It offers what he is calling a “personalised one-stop service” including the editing, design, printing and publication of newspapers, magazines, leaflets, brochures, annual reports, flyers, business cards, newsletters, programmes and other publicity materials.

writeahead also offers memorial and celebratory publications for such as local press eulogies or ‘This is Your Life’ magazines for individual clients.

And Nic is also offering PR and consultancy services including writing and distribution of news releases and other marketing material.

Said Nic:  “I noticed for many years that no-one offered a one-stop tailored service to write, edit, design and publish magazines, brochures or flyers for small or medium sized businesses or public corporate organisations.

“That is where writeahead steps in … so, whether you are a single person enterprise, a busy retail outlet, a thriving community business or a large public or private sector organisation, writeahead will get your message across.”

As well as his stints as an editor Nic was also an award-winning reporter who worked for the The Telegraph, Mail on Sunday, The Herald and Sunday Herald, The Scotsman, The Press and Journal, The Sunday Sun, The Evening Chronicle, and the North Wales Weekly News.

Among the awards to his name are North of England Daily Journalist of the Year, Scottish Daily Journalist of the Year and Scottish Weekly Journalist of the Year. He was also twice editor of Weekly Newspaper of the Year.

Nic is the loveliest editor I have ever worked for. I learned so much from him. All the best Nic, I so hope this is brilliant.
