A long-standing regional TV journalist has been made the new high sheriff of Cambridgeshire – the Queen’s legal representative for the county.
Linda Fairbrother, who has worked as a broadcast journalist for Anglia Television for many years, takes on the now largely-ceremonial role whose duties include attending royal visits and accommodating visiting High Court judges.
Lind, of Newnham, has commissioned a piece of music celebrating Ely’s medieval rebel, Hereward the Wake, to mark her year in office. It will be performed next year.
She is planning a walk from Wisbech to Cambridge to raise money for charity. “It’s a way of giving something back to the community,” she told the Cambridge News.
