New publisher for West Country newspapers

fiona_shawAn experienced advertising executive with publisher Local World has been named as the new publisher of its Devon and Cornwall Media division.

Fiona Shaw, left, moves to DCM from her current role as Publisher at Staffordshire Newspapers, also part of Local World.

After beginning her career at the Derby Telegraph in 1988, Fiona rose through the ranks to become advertisement director before moving to the Nottingham Post in the same role in 2010.

She joined Iliffe News and Media as Staffordshire publisher in 2011 prior to the merger with Northcliffe Media which formed Local World.

Said Fiona: “I am delighted to be joining DC Media. Cornwall holds special memories for me as many of my childhood holidays were spent in this beautiful part of the country. Cornwall still holds strong community values and our Cornish titles and websites play an enormous part in keeping that community spirit alive and kicking.”

Fiona will start her new role on Monday 1 December and will report to Mark Sainsbury, managing director Devon & Cornwall and South West Wales Media.

Ahhhhh….the childhood memories! Does anyone want to come to Cornwall for career progression or is it always because they used to holiday her. They think they will have lots of time to take nice walks on the beaches, hike across the beautiful countryside and taste the fresh air every day. Ohhh NO…having a childhood holiday here is a little different from actually living and working as an adult.

    Best of luck anyway!

Having lived and worked in the West Country, including Cornwall, for many years, I can confirm what an entirely pleasurable experience it has been. Just think, I could have been stuck in Clapham or Camden Town. Aaaaarrrrggghhh!!!
