Network gathering to tackle fear of digital 'failure'

Media innovators are getting together to explain how they fought their way out of the ‘lions’ den’ of failure to succeed in today’s digital era.

None but the brave will make their way to this autumn’s latest gathering of the Digital Editors’ Network – hosted by Trinity Mirror at its Canary Wharf HQ.

Among those taking part will be Alison Gow, who at the start of the year swapped the editor’s chair at the North Wales Daily Post – where Trinity Mirror piloted their Newsroom 3.1 concept – for the job of driving editorial innovation across all the TM titles.

The theme of the 6 November event by DEN – which since 2007 has worked to bring together media innovators and industry organisations – is fearless innovation and overcoming obstacles.

“We’re delighted to be the hosts for #fearlessDEN as the theme resonates with our understanding that evolution of the media industry, and development of ideas, is how we can ensure a strong future,” said Alison.

Also invited to the event – supported by the University of Central Lancashire’s Journalism Leaders Programme – are Trinity Mirror digital director Malcolm Coles and Matt McAlister, the general manager of New Digital Businesses for the Guardian Media Group.

Discussion will be chaired by UCLan’s François Nel, Nick Turner of the CN Group and Lucia Adams of The Times.
