Weekly ceases publication in merger with sister title

A paid-for weekly in South Yorkshire has ceased publication with its content to be merged with a larger sister title.

The Johnston Press-owned Dinnington Guardian will no longer be printed but content about the patch will be published in the Worksop Guardian, which will be expanded from this week.

Guardian editor Ben Green told readers about the move, saying the bigger Worksop title will continue to be sold in all the places where the Dinnington Guardian was sold and the Dinnington website will still be updated.

It comes after the title, which is fully paid-for, reported a fall in circulation of 23.4pc to 1,463 at the last ABC figures, which were released in February.

Wrote Ben: “I am sure the people of Dinnington and the surrounding area will enjoy the new look, bumper Guardian.

The Guardian will still be the best place to find all your Dinnington area news, and we remain fully committed to covering all that is going on in the local community.

“The bigger paper will offer better value for money for our readers and more opportunities for local businesses to reach a bigger audience.”

The paper has also thanked readers who have supported it over recent years.

Its story adds: “A big thank you also goes to our advertisers for their constant support, through some pretty tough times for all of us.

“You now have a bigger, better platform to help reach a bigger audience, both in print and online.”

The Dinnington Guardian, along with its sister titles, was relaunched with a new look in February as part of the roll-out across Johnston Press.
