Student newspaper unveils new responsive website

An award-winning student newspaper has unveiled a new-look website which aims to boost its interaction with readers.

Redbrick, the University of Birmingham’s publication, launched its responsive site on Monday after four months of work on the redesign.

Editor Josh Holder says www.redbrick.me will have greater focus on personalisation, multimedia and campus-oriented content.

“Once I was elected editor I thought it was a great chance to work on a redesign and really sharpen it up,” said Josh.

The website, which currently receives approximately 20,000 unique views per month, will also now include profile pictures of the author, a small biography and social media links to boost interaction for the student operated site.

“If you’re interested in what someone’s saying you can follow them on twitter and really speak to the authors, that’s a really nice thing that you can do with digital media that you can’t do with print media quite so easily,” he added.

A number of new features appear on the homepage including a ‘campus spotlight’ link to focus on campus art and culture as well as a video contents area.
