Regional daily reporter to appear on Countdown

A regional daily reporter will appear as a contestant on popular quiz show Countdown next month.

Juliette Bains, from the Yorkshire Evening Post, was filmed for an episode of the Channel 4 programme on Monday, which will be broadcast on 8 March.

She tweeted about the experience of going on the show, saying she had “the best time” and thanked host Nick Hewer and assistant Rachel Riley, but has not revealed whether she won the contest that day.

Last November, Derek Tucker, the former editor of Aberdeen’s Press and Journal appeared as a Countdown contestant, but lost out to the reigning champion in the final round.

Juliette tweeted: “Had the best time on @C4Countdown today! Everyone is lovely. Thanks for making it so special @rachelrileyRR @nick_hewer.

“Honestly it was so fun! I did alright-ish… You’ll have to watch on March 8!”

She added that she had got a place on the show after filling out a form and then having a phone interview.

The show was previously filmed in Leeds but this has now moved to MediaCityUK in Salford.
