Publisher expands footprint with region-wide website

Family-owned publisher NWN Media is launching a new region-wide website covering the whole of North and Mid-Wales in a significant expansion of its traditional footprint.

News North Wales
will cover an area stretching from the Borders to Anglesey, bringing together content from six of the group’s print titles.

The site is being billed as a “one-stop shop for news and sport from the whole of North Wales.”

Individual newspaper websites for each of the group’s North Wales titles will continue alongside the new portal.

The six titles are The Leader, Denbighshire Free Press, County Times, North Wales Chronicle, North Wales Pioneer and Rhyl Journal.

NWN Media associate editor Tim Bowden said: “NWN’s portfolio of titles offers unrivalled coverage of the region and News North Wales makes great use of this tremendous resource.

“It is built on a simple premise: that there is a demand from both readers and advertisers for a platform which is a one-stop shop for news and sport from across North and Mid Wales.

Digital director Paul Taylor added:  “News North Wales is an exciting first in the provision of news across the whole of North Wales and we believe this will become an important tool for advertisers who wish to reach the entire area via one platform .’’

David Faulkner, managing director of NWN Media said: “This hugely exciting project builds on NWN Media’s successful brands to offer something genuinely new to readers, advertisers and businesses across the region.’

“The investment in this major new website demonstrates NWN’s ongoing commitment to innovation and the vital role played by Regional Media.

“The company is under new ownership with a new Board and young shareholders who fully understand the changing face of the media business and the demands of our audience.

“It is a significant first step into the future under the company’s new ownership structure. We are confident it will be very positively received and this is the first of a number of initiatives designed to grow new revenue streams.”
