Police complete enquiries after cycling reporter injured

Police have concluded their enquiries after a regional daily reporter was injured in a cycling incident.

HTFP reported last week that Rachael Clegg, a journalist at The Star in Sheffield, had been left with a fractured jaw and wrist after an incident when she was cycling in Sheffield city centre.

It was initially thought that she had been hit by a vehicle but after an investigation, police have now said that there were no other vehicles involved.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police said: “Officers have now completed their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding a cyclist sustaining injuries in Sheffield city centre on Friday 27 September.

“The investigation concluded that the cyclist was not hit by another vehicle.

“The 32-year-old woman was cycling down Pinstone Street towards the junction of Cambridge Street in the direction of Furnival Gate when she came off her bike.”

In an interview with a colleague from her own paper she said: Speaking from her hospital bed on Friday, Rachael told the paper: “All I remember is a jolt from behind and flying through the air.”

    Shome mishtake, shurely.
