Photographer in London to Paris cycle challenge

A chief photographer aims to cycle from London to Paris next month to raise funds for his local hospice.

Jim Jarvis, left, the chief photographer at the Nuneaton News, is taking on the challenge to raise money for the Mary Ann Evans Hospice in Nuneaton and has so far collected more than £3,000 in sponsorship pledges.

He began cycling when he gave up smoking three years ago and decided to take on the challenge after finding out about it from a local fundraiser while on a photographic job at the hospice.

Jim will begin the major cycle ride on 3 July, hoping to complete it four days later.

He has worked as a press photographer in the area for around 30 years and said he had been overwhelmed by the support of friends, businesses and local schools.

Said Jim: “There are only a couple of weeks left and as this challenge may not happen again, any donations no matter how small would be really appreciated.”

The hospice is located in the grounds of George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton and provides care to people with life-limiting illnesses such as cancer.

Jim can be sponsored by visiting his JustGiving page.
